Diagnosis of Deafness

Read Time:53 Second

A worried husband visited a doctor to discuss his wife’s condition.

He said to the doctor, “Doctor, I think my wife is deaf because she never hears me the first time and always asks me to repeat things.”

“Well,” replied the doctor, “go home and tonight, stand about 15 feet away from her. Say something to her, and if she doesn’t respond, move about 5 feet closer and say it again. Continue doing this so that we can assess the severity of her deafness.”

Following the doctor’s advice, the husband returned home and executed the plan precisely.

He positioned himself approximately 15 feet away from his wife, who was busy chopping vegetables in the kitchen, and asked, “Honey, what’s for dinner?”

No response reached his ears.

He moved 5 feet closer and repeated the question. Still, no reply.

Five feet closer, and yet there was no response.

Frustrated, he approached her from behind until he was just an inch away and asked once more, “Honey, what’s for dinner?”

She finally replied, “For the fourth time, vegetable stew!”
